Module 37 working resource

Property Technology and Access Register

Record devices, accounts, permissions, maintenance, fallbacks and removals.

HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE

Access design

Map building entry, property entry, parking, lift, common areas and emergency access. Smart locks do not solve restricted fobs, concierge rules or network outages. Use time-limited codes where supported, remove access promptly and maintain a controlled backup. Never hide keys in a way that creates obvious security risk.

Technology stack

Document Wi-Fi, locks, noise or environmental devices, television, climate, cameras, sensors and platform connections. Confirm owner and building permission, privacy, placement, disclosure, retention and supplier terms. Use unique accounts, strong authentication and least-privilege access. Remove former staff and contractors immediately.

Failure planning

For every critical device, define outage detection, first response, manual fallback, authorised supplier and guest communication. Test batteries, connectivity and remote alerts on a schedule. Technology should reduce risk without creating surveillance or false confidence. Safety and privacy decisions require current legal and professional review.
